Gavin DeGraw's new single "Not Over You"

(Chorus)
If you ask me how I'm doing
I would say I'm doing just fine
I would lie and say that you're not on my mind
But I go out and I sit down at a table set for two
And finally I'm forced to face the truth,
No matter what I say I'm - not over you (not over you)

I love these lyrics!

Meeting Mrs. Marcia Jones

I volunteered today in my Mom's classroom. WOW. First graders are really something. We left immediately after school (not normal for my mom) for an appointment, making a point to return to the school tonight. So, when we did go back to the school, it just so happened the second grade team was hosting a parent/student author night. Marcia Thornton Jones was visiting. In case you're wondering, she is the author of the children's chapter book series "The Adventures of the Bailey School Kids." I was so excited (I know I'm an adult, but really...) because I used to read her books when I was little and she's big-time. Listening to her talk about her writing experiences was fascinating. Something most people don't know, is she is an amazing artist! I was so impressed. I ran down to my mom's classroom and grabbed one of her books and, yay!, I got it signed. I'm very pleased with myself. :) She's a very nice lady and she recommend that I stay in the nursing field, instead of going into the editing/publishing field. I wasn't expecting her to turn down my idea of working in the book editing/publishing field. I mean, she is an author. But, it was nice to hear someone's true opinion, instead of the usual nodding in agreement to what I'm saying, that I get from most of my extended family and friends (although I love them too). She gave me an idea, that I hadn't considered, saying that I should major in Nursing and get a minor in Literature and edit Medical books on the side. A definite consideration. Happening upon her visit was such a nice surprise and a great end to my day.

Miss. Peregrine's Trailer for Peculiar Children

As previously mentioned (via post) I am in love with Miss. Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, and I happened upon the book trailer for it and had to share. So good!, and perfect for those who both have and have not read the book. Take a peek! And- if you haven't gotten your be-hind to the bookstore, and snatched Miss. Peregrine up yet, I recommend you do so now.

One-more-thing, good news for Miss. Peregrine lovers, 20th Century Fox bought the film rights for the book and a film should be out in 2013! So exciting. Let the count-down begin!

The Best Kept Secrets On The Web

Here are a few of the best kept secrets on the web.

www.Hautelook.com - This site offers big-time designers for low prices. Items range from clothes to makeup to home decor. Get ready to break out your credit card, you're definitely going to need it!

www.freeprettythingsforyou.com - Are you a devoted blogger, always looking for new graphics to customize your blog? If the answer is "Yes" then visit Free Pretty Things For You . They offer absolutely adorable- vintage inspired graphics. Get ready to hit the save button. You're going to be doing a lot of that.

Neopets HTML Guide - For those of you out there that need a quick and easy, basic HTML guide, check out Neopet's HTML Guide. I have been using it for over ten years, now. It's definitely the best "basic" HTML guide out there. Need a quick reference on how to turn a picture into a link or how to change the appearance of your font? Then this is your "Go To" guide.

FakeBook - Looking to kill some time? Check out Fake Book. It's like FaceBook but it's fake. Pretty self-explanatory. It offers FaceBook-eque profiles for historical figures, book characters, movie characters and more. Want to see Queen Elizabeth I's facebook?, click here. What about William Shakespeare? How about Adam and Eve? Have Fun!

www.FanFiction.net - Have you ever finished a book and wondered what happens next?, but there is no sequel? A movie that has a "Happily Ever After" ending, but that's just not good enough for you? Then take a look at FanFiction.net. I've been addicted since the 7th grade (I'm in college now). Not only can you find out what happens next or why something happened from a different perspective, but you get to discover some really great un-published writers out there. There is definitely some talent on this site. You'll find the hours slipping away as you read these awesome and interesting follow-ups.

www.FotoFlexer.com - Foto Flexer is a great site for graphic design. After discovering it, I have used it for 95% of my custom graphics on my blog. You can layer images (like my header), add font, resize and basically change just about everything on a picture. Best of all, it's free! You don't even need an account to use it.

www.pinterest.com - Pin Interest is a unique "bookmarking" site. It's like having your bookmarks always at your finger tips, no matter where you are. When you "pin" (or save) something you find online, it will add a picture of it to your boards (such as Decorating Ideas, Fashion, DIY, etc.) on your profile. You can then keep your "pins" always within reach, and share them (or not) with your friends or blog followers and find inspiration from others.

I hope you enjoy these sites as much as I have!

How I Spent My Weekend

Wow, it's been a loooong weekend. But- all of a sudden, it's over. On Friday evening, I began working on my Mom's teaching blog. She wanted something custom so we bought some clipart, spent about a total of $20 and ba-da-boom, ba-da-bing, I made her a blog. I spent at least 20 hours crafting it. I made all custom graphics and used lots of trial and error. It's my first custom blog-making experience and we still have tons to do, but I'm happy with it, so check it out at makingmemoriesfirst.blogspot.com or click here Enjoy!
The one down-side to the weekend was I had no time to shop or read (my two favorite things). So, Becoming Marie Antionette is on the back burner, at least for the next couple of days.
I hope everyone had a great weekend. Here's to a good start of your week!

Miss. Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

I can't believe it's over. I just finished Miss. Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. A truly amazing, captivating story.
Jacob's Grandpa Portman is an acentric old man. From the time Jacob is little his Grandpa Portman tells of a children's home he lived in as a young man, a home for peculiar children. Children like Victor, who was so strong he could lift a boulder over his head. Olive who had to wear weighted shoes and a rope tied around her waist to keep from floating away. Millard who was invisible and Horace who had bees that lived inside of him. As Jacob grows older, he begins to believe these stories are just that- stories. Stories made up from the imagination of an old man. But one night, when Jacob is 15, his Grandpa Portman calls him terrified of the monsters that are "after him"- monsters who hunt peculiar children. When his grandpa is found dead, only then does Jacob begin to believe that maybe those stories are not fiction but the truth. The truth- that is now up to him to find out.

Lady GaGa's new song, "You and I." My sis's favorite song right now, so this is for her.

This song reminds me of a Shania Twain song. Odd, I know.
