Breaking Dawn Pt.1

Well, I finally let myself watch the trailer for Breaking Dawn Part 1. I have really weird emotional reactions to those movies because of the books and I've been avoiding all press for Breaking Dawn. But- It looks like it's gonna be awesome!

One of my all time favorites.

For some reason- whenever I hear this song- it makes me smile. I hope it does the same for you! Vanessa Carlton's Nolita Fairytale

Stealing Faces

I just finished Michael Prescott's Stealing Faces. An awesome book! I couldn't stop turning the pages, eating up every word like licking the sweetness of candy off one's fingertips.
Stealing Faces begins with the hunt and murder of (the fictitious) Sharon Andrews in the White Mountains of Arizona. The star of the show is John Cray. He kidnaps women and then takes them out in the mountains or the desert and hunts them like animals. His last move is to cut the face off his victims as they lay alive, bleeding from the wounds inflicted from his gun and knife. Their last image is their face laying in the hands of their killer. Elizabeth Palmer is the only one who knows John Cray's secret. She stalks him in the night and threatens to expose the truth. But soon the table turns and she will then become the object of his next fixation. In Mr. Prescott's words "She must save her life... or lose her mind."

Cute n Cool blog stuff

Okay, so I found the neatest blog and I'm super stoked about it. "Cute n Cool blog stuff" is an awesome blog from a Finnish artist and designer. Her blog templates are so out there and crazy and I love them! I would say a lot of her stuff is like Victorian Pop-Art.
(I actually have one of her Can-Can dancers on my blog.)
Check it out!

Keep Calm and Follow Along

I couldn't help but notice all of the "Keep Calm and Carry On" nock-offs. They're on posters, pillows, keychains, blog buttons, etc. Well, I got on that train early on, in the Spring of last year and my "Keep Calm and Carry On" proudly sits on my lingerie chest in my bedroom. I bought mine on Etsy.com from thedreamygiraffe. At $18 a pop, they're a cheap daily pick-me-up.

Livin' the Life on Gossip Girl

I already miss Chuck and Blair. If this scene doesn't show how perfect they are together, then I don't know what would. I by far loved this episode and especially this scene. The music is infectious and so are C and B. If your a Gossip Girl fan check all new episodes starting Monday, September 26th. If you have never watched Gossip Girl pick up Seasons 1-3 now. Season 4 is available August 23rd!

Death at a Funeral

Late last night, I got a text from my Dad. There was something he needed to talk about and after waking up to a 4:30 am call time, call me crazy, but I did not feel like texting. So, I quickly grabbed my phone, tapped out a quick "I'll call u tmrw morning," and punched the power-off button. When I woke up, I turned on my phone and waited as it buzzed its "4 new messages." I clicked my inbox and saw that besides some 3 am call from my crazed faux-Korean sister, they were all from my dad. I worried and opened the first text. "Your grandfather is in the icu at the VA" (for those of you that don't know, it's the Kentucky Veteran's Hospital) "they admitted him late last night and he's taken a turn for the worse. The doctors are giving him 24 - 48 hours. If you would like to see him, call me, and I will pick you up. I already got in touch with your cousin A and she said she would like to have that chance." Really? I know he's my grandpa but I haven't (and neither has my cousin A) seen him in 14 years. He doesn't know my name nor A's and he has never been apart of my life. So, I was, first, taken aback that she would want anything to do with a grandfather that had never been a "grandfather" to us. My last memory of him was from my sixth Christmas. My uncle (also A's estranged father) drove us out to my grandfather's house where he greeted us, not by name, because he never cared to remember them, and proceeded to hand us each a container of "10 year past-the-expiration-date" chocolate covered nuts. Flash-back to today and I thought, "Am I supposed to be upset about this news?" I can't even remember his face. My mom said my dad looks a lot like him and all I could think was "Really? He does? huh." For one brief second I thought "Maybe I should go, just to see if Dad really does look like him." But I didn't.
when I thought I had gathered the stomach, I texted him "I don't think I can go. Death doesn't set well with me and I think it would upset me too much." My Dad was fine with my answer, saying he "understood," and he texted me telling me he would keep me up-to-date. So, all day, I've been avoiding thinking about this. This death. So final. Like death was a period. The end, over- gone, done. Period. It's sad I think, that these day in times, people, families, let things come between them. Empty phone-calls. Angered emotion. Pride. And years pass and the space, the lost memories, grow and they too become final. They seal these emotions and then one day, you wake up and your 90 years old and you don't know your children and your grand-children, and its too late. It's over. Period.
The last I heard, my grandfather was still there, alive, waiting it out. Waiting for death. And here I am, driving to a city for dinner with the fam and I think, "Well, I guess I need to find a black dress." Just like that. That thought so simple, and void of emotion, of connection. Because of this man. A man who I share blood but not my life, not my memories. A man who made a lot of mistakes. A WHOLE lot. Period.

The Rise (or fall) of the Planet of the Apes

I accepted a good ole' dad date tonight. Location: Theater, Movie: The Rise of the Planet of the Apes. The movie started with promise but in the end failed to deliver. I have to say the hair on my arms did stand up every time the huge a** gorilla roared at the screen. Imagine that thing chasing you down; I don't know whether I would pee on myself, have a heart attack or just drop dead. James Franco was lookin' pretty good tonight, and Freida Pinto sure did light up the screen but I think the real star was Andy Serkis. Andy starred as Caesar, the cute little baby chimp that grew into the leader of the ape revolution. Pretty cool what a guy in a suit and a computer can do. Do I recommend it? Not really. Sorry, but I'm gonna take a pass on a second viewing. I give it 2 out of 5 stars.

Two Cute new songs... Check em' out!

First Post

Welcome to my blog.  I'm a blog virgin, so... hang in there.  I started messing around with blogs, just tonight. My mom is a teacher and I was trying to figure out how to make a cute blog for her and in the end... decided to make one for myself. I'm a 20 year old Kentucky girl who loves to read, craft movies on my Apple MacBook Pro, and a Nook-er. Fun stuff, huh?
